The Trauma Imaging Research and Innovation Center (TIRIC) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital seeks a full-time Research Assistant to join our multidisciplinary research team and learn cutting-edge radiology and machine learning research. As a Research Assistant (RA), you will be deeply involved in our interdisciplinary research projects focused on machine learning applications. You may collect data, synthesize literature, assist with coordinating multi-center clinical trials, and participate in writing sections of manuscripts and grant proposals. The job is well suited for self-driven individuals who wish to blend their analytical skills with a passion for healthcare innovation without the need for direct patient interaction. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities

  • Assisting in collecting primary data, including SQL and other database management tools for primary data collection, ensuring data quality control, and organizing study data.
  • Assisting in analyses of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Assisting in the collection of user and patient feedback through focus groups and interviews
  • Conducting literature reviews on relevant research topics
  • Summarizing data and generating reports; presenting findings at weekly and monthly meetings
  • Participating in model development, refinement, and debugging, including collaborating with the team of data scientists at MIT.
  • Assisting in the preparation of research documents, presentations, grant proposals, manuscripts, and journal articles
  • Corresponding with and preparing materials for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for protocol amendments, consent form changes, and annual reports
  • Performing electronic medical record reviews
  • Assisting with study coordination of multi-center clinical trials.
  • Assisting with protocol development and the creation of related materials, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manuals of operations (MOOPs)
  • Attending and leading regularly scheduled project-specific and group-wide meetings
  • Performing administrative duties, such as preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree with a strong foundation in computer science, data science, or a related field. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and other relevant data analysis tools is preferred. We value flexibility, initiative, and independence as well as interest in medicine, epidemiology, health policy, biostatistics, economics, mathematics, and/or computer programming. Some prior research experience is desired but not required.
